Sea

Inspired by the Sea

Time melts when looking at the ocean. I am drawn to the mystery of a world I cannot see nor inhabit. My mind's eye envisions a deep and colorful sea kelp forest, coral creatures thriving, urchins reaching while moving with the current, and the octopi drawing on the tide with their far reaching tentacles.

I pull the color of the light reflected on water along with the ever changing color of the sky into my compositions. The sea life I research and imagine centers my imagery. The seashells I gather on the sea shore’s edge model for observational drawings. The sound of the waves are captured in the repetitive dots and contour lines that stream through the page. It is my hope that these artworks evoke the peace found at the edge of the sea.
